This has been my favorite online PD ever because of the way it was broken up into chunks and I didn't have to do it all at once. If I had to change one thing, it would be more SEL lessons.- Beth G.
I thought this was an amazing course with lots of useful information. Thank you for taking the time to create it and allowing us to further our education as teachers! - Kelley H.
I have sat through many, many hours of continuing ed. offered by our school throughout the years and although it's good, it was so refreshing to receive continuing ed. hours that I will use in my subject area. My biggest takeaway is that SEL does really need to be integrated into every lesson. We spend more time discussing it in our bigger units and talk about good sportsmanship but SEL is so much more than that. Teaching good character skills should be taught every day we have contact with these students. I don't know if I would change anything. I really enjoyed this module and will be looking for more offered by you. - Jen W.
Thank you for offering a great course. I've taken a few of these, and the format Benna used, along with her conversational, constructive feedback was spot on. I appreciate the affordability too, as I paid for this one myself! - Maria M
The biggest take away from this course is to be more present and make sure that I am constantly including SEL daily in my class and along with my lesson planning. I want to always make sure that my students are in a positive environment and that the lessons are appropriate for their SEL. I would like to leave an impact on my students about being positive and kind to one another! Thank you for a great course, I really enjoyed it and learned a lot!!
AMAZING!! Thank you! I feel much more confident and educated in SEL and look forward to implementing these strategies in the upcoming academic year! Kayla K.
I loved everything about this course. It was informational and meaningful and pertained to physical education. It did not take too long to complete and I could complete at my own pace as my time allowed. One of the biggest take aways, from this course was the Ted Talk! I have been teaching for a long time, and try to stay current with the ever changing needs of our students. Listening to how students needs are changing, and that pictures and other visuals are good for future "I generation students" was beneficial. I also love the lesson planning and intentionally ways to work SEL into any lesson and including those pieces in my lesson plans. - Angie F.

Course Description
Strong social and emotional skills equip students to reach their full potential in whatever they decide to do. However, often these skills are not a primary focus or are absent altogether in the educational process, including physical education. The absence of intentional SEL in quality PE could be happening for a variety of reasons, such as lack of time and/or knowledge on how to effectively include them in regular PE lessons. This course takes students through engaging content that demonstrates practical, easy ways to include social and emotional skills within movement activity lessons while improving learning and overall student behavior and class management. The strategies explained during the course are a framework to guide teachers in helping today’s students acquire the social and emotional skills they need to increase positive thinking and emotions, problem-solve, think critically, and take responsibility in PE, and in all areas of their lives.
