This course is offered as part of Human Kinetics Teacher Professional Development. It is an online, self-paced experience with an instructor, and assignments can be completed at your convenience.
This course is Part II of two courses, each worth 8 professional development (PD) hours, for a total of 16 PD hours when both are completed. Courses are not required to be completed sequentially or in totality. You will receive a certificate upon successful completion for each individual course. There is no graduate credit or CEU credit for this course.

AUDIENCE
Physical education teachers looking to use artificial intelligence in their classes.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
The goal of these companion courses is to help physical education teachers transform their basic understanding of what AI is into practical application by using AI tools within their instruction. Part I focuses on specific AI tools available to reduce workload while maintaining high-quality standards-based instruction. Discussions focus on differentiated instruction and lesson planning. Part II of these courses focuses on building assessments and using AI to provide feedback about student learning. This course aims to help teachers streamline administrative tasks, create dynamic and effective learning environments, and spend more time fostering meaningful connections with students.
By the end of this course, you will be able to do the following:
- Describe what AI is.
- Integrate AI into your processes, including for rubrics, assessments, and grading.
- Generate standards-based assessments, including multiple-choice questions, true-false questions, essays, checklists (for self and peers), and alternative assessments.
- Craft prompts for accurate results and successfully use one of the many prompt templates.
- Meet diverse student needs, including creating individual education programs (IEPs).
- Optimize workflow and spend more time on the things that matter.
- Discuss ethical considerations around AI usage.
Your Instructor
Joanne Hunter, EdM, MS, ORDM, CAPE, is a seasoned learning professional and educational technology consultant in program design and data management. She has experience developing customized curricula—including STEM courses and instructor-training programs—for preK-12 schools, universities, ESL and ELL adult classes, and organizations, using reality-based simulations and training materials. Working as an artificial intelligence (AI) trainer and consultant, Dr. Hunter has a strong understanding of the educational applications of AI and is excited to demonstrate how AI can be a valuable ally for teachers, helping all students reach their full potential.
